Summer on the roof
Spanning three floors inside the historic Miami Woman’s Club, a low-rise Mediterranean revival stucco building amidst Edgewater’s modern glass towers, Klaw is a lavish destination for lavish food: caviar, dry-aged cuts of steak (including A5 kobe), and king crab imported from a Norwegian fishing village.
For maximum effect, however, ascend to The Rooftop by Klaw, a restaurant-within-a-restaurant with those same delights, plus views of turquoise, shimmering Biscayne Bay. The restaurant and its rooftop opened two summers back, and summer is indeed the perfect season to drop in. On this fifth-floor perch, sliding glass doors open to an oversized covered terrace. With terracotta tile floors inside and out, marble-clad bistro tables, potted birds of paradise, and light wood and bronze accents, the dining room feels like a modern take on old world Florida glamor.
On a recent sun-drenched Sunday with a group of girlfriends on the terrace, we sampled all manner of small plates and elevated brunch staples. Caviar-topped deviled eggs felt like a good place to start, and they were. The olive oil-dabbed parmesan aioli made for an incredible complement to perfectly crisp and cool heirloom carrots, radishes, and radicchio — a new top dish on my list of American crudités revivals. The Klaw seafood tower is worth the spend as well, with the aforementioned Norwegian king crab legs, oysters, Maine lobster, chilled Australian prawns, local ceviche, and bluefin tuna.
Before our rosé arrived, we noticed another group of friends two tables over. Now it was a party. The weather was perfect — crystal clear, but not too hot — and all felt right, if not in the world, then at least on this Miami rooftop. –Shayne Benowitz

REAL ESTATE • On the Market
At the beach
The single-family housing market in Miami Beach is loosening up, with 96 sales in Q1, up 33% over the same period last year, per Elliman. The surge followed a persistent increase in inventory, which rose for the seventh straight quarter. Despite the bounty of listings, prices climbed, too, up 6% to a median sales price of $2.975M.
Three current listings confirm the persistent sellers’ market, with (in agents’ parlance) plenty of charm, under and just above the median price, and a description-free waterfront property pushing $10M. Stay strong out there.

Bimini dreams
ADRIANNE CALVO • chef/owner • Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant & Bar
Neighborhood you work in: Kendall
It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Thursday is a major delivery day as we prep for the weekend at my 280-seat restaurant, Chef Adrianne’s. At 9 a.m., our butcher comes in and begins all the trimming and cutting for the day. By 10, the line comes in. 10:30 a.m. is preshift, with our front of house managers and our servers. At 11, we open our doors to the public.
Most days, we have private dining rooms occupied by companies. Because of the great weather in Miami for most of the year, you’ll find patrons dining al fresco on our lakefront terrace. My responsibilities include making sure we open correctly with all the resources we need to make it a successful day. If we open right, chances are we close right.
What’s on the agenda for today?
I’m currently working on expanding our offerings on Goldbelly as our first year was a home run selling our iconic dishes. Yesterday, we did a full day shoot for Goldbelly TV on the history of the restaurant (17 years and counting), and how each dish came about.
Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
I love the bar at Fiola. They do amazing classic cocktails in a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere. I usually order a couple of Negronis with double orange slices, then have a run at the whole raw bar menu. If I’m really hungry, I’ll end with truffle pasta.
Any weekend getaways?
My favorite weekend getaway is a 20-minute seaplane ride from Miami to Bimini. The beaches are unreal. I like to stay at the Hilton in Bimini. My day usually looks like this: noon arrival, immediately rent a golf cart, drive from one end of Bimini to the other (one of the most scenic drives ever), stop at Stuart’s for conch salad and a rum punch. Then head on over to the Hilton pool, where they have a swim-up bar, followed by an afternoon at the crystal-clear beach, and dinner at the hotel’s sushi spot.
What was your last great vacation?
Last October, I flew with my family to Milan, then stayed a couple of days in Lake Como and drove to Florence — ate our way through Florence, I mean — and finally stayed a couple of days in Tuscany. It was a stunning villa inside an active vineyard. This is the Airbnb we stayed in and loved.

Going for the gold
If you spy an emerald and gold parrot ring atop Isabela Grutman’s finger in an Instagram story, or see her sporting gold leaf-shaped earrings, rest assured you don’t have to go far to shop the look. The model-turned-jewelry designer now has a flagship in the Design District.
While her namesake line has been around since 2022, the boutique itself opened last month. It’s outfitted in soothing earth tones, with a mix of textures (marbles, wood, metal) throughout. Many of those wood details adorn the ceiling, creating a cocoon-like escape from the world right outside. Mirrors in unique shapes afford glimpses as you try on the pieces throughout the store. Those pieces include rings (like her best seller, the baguette diamond pave, above), bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and body jewelry.
If the overall look and feel of the jewelry’s design feels well-traveled, it’s because Grutman draws inspiration from her childhood in Brazil, her world travels, and vintage fashion. All of her baubles are meant to be worn daily, meeting the mark for posh and practical. And now, extremely purchasable, right here in our backyard. –Ginger Harris

GETAWAYS • Grand Cayman
A grand stage
Spanning a northern stretch of Grand Cayman’s famed Seven Mile Beach, Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa has the feeling of a louche treasure chest scattered across the shore. Cushy cabanas, lounges, hammocks, and daybeds dot the white sand beach, and labyrinthine paths lead to the enormous curvilinear pool.
Inside, walls and floors are clad in polished limestone and dark wood in clean lines with low-slung, mid-century-inspired furniture in punchy accent colors. Nautical touches include a traditional wooden Cayman catboat suspended from the ceiling in the library. Rooms are delightful retreats, most with oversized ocean-facing balconies, in a palette of dark slate and fuchsia, each sporting big, comfy beds and sexy bathrooms with glass-enclosed rainfall showers.
Spanish restaurant Ave anchors the dining program, along with restaurant-within-a-restaurant chef’s counter Avecita. Among the highlights from Ave’s menu: elegant pescado asado prepared on the parilla grill with truffle, carrot-radish vinaigrette, and tomato confit. The cocktail menu is divided into the four elements; in the Water category, the 95% is made with pink peppercorn and pimento seed-infused gin and clarified tomato water. It’s a potent, yet beautifully balanced drink. The Coccoloba beach bar is a sort of Tulum-meets-Caymans day club, dishing up bright ceviches, tostadas, and margaritas directly on the sand.
The spa is worth a visit, for both its amenities (a beautiful blue mosaic tile hammam and grand soaking tub) and its treatments. I had one of the best and most intense deep tissue massages of my life there, which at a place like Seafire is practically gilding the lily. –Shayne Benowitz
